God’s enduring promise

May 9, 2010

In Genesis 12,  God promised Abraham that his descendants would

Now the LORD said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you; And I will make you a great nation, And I will bless you, And make your name great; And so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, And the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

(Gen 12:1-3 NASB)

The provisions of Deu chapter 30,  were seletected based on the choices the nation of Israel made,  always guided by the covenant made with Abraham in Gen chapter 12.

In the 6th century BC,  Israel ceased to be a nation with a self ruled homeland in the area promised by God to Abraham,  again based on the choices made and what God said would happen in Deut 30.

A little over 2400 years later,  in 1948,  the nation of Israel,  an self ruled nation,  in the promised land came back into existence,  consistent with prophecy and covenant. (Gen 12, Jeremiah 29-31, and Zechariah).

In John 3:16,  John 14 –  Jesus provides the basis of the new covenant and the conditions,  believe in Jesus as Savior,  and He is preparing a place for you to live in eternity with the saints in heaven.  God’s enduring promise you can caount on.
